VOLUNTEER WEEK GRANTS FOR BALLARAT VOLUNTEERS
It’s a good week for Ballarat volunteers with nineteen local organisations receiving grants funding.
Announced as part of National Volunteer Week, these grants provide between $1,000 and $5,000 to enable organisations in Ballarat to better support their volunteers to purchase small equipment, pay fuel, transport and training costs.
“Everywhere you go across our region you find volunteers who are giving up their time and energy to make our community a better place to live”, Ms King said.
“We’ve seen the best of our volunteers this year, first through the fires where members of our community travelled long distances to help out, and now through the current pandemic where volunteers are delivering food and keeping vulnerable residents socially connected.”
“Our volunteers have been and will remain an integral part of Australian life, before and after this pandemic – from our local theatres and museums; to environment and conservation groups; youth and mentoring; homelessness and housing; migrant services; seniors and aged care; health and wellness, including disability services; to our local sports teams and clubs.”
“We cannot thank our volunteers enough”.
