GET CURIOUS AND EXPERIENCE STEM AT BALLARAT HIGH SCHOOL THIS WEEKEND
Beloved Australian institution Questacon is in Ballarat this weekend and making science fun and accessible for everyone!
Questacon’s outreach program The Questacon Science Circus was first launched by Prime Minister Bob Hawke and Science Minister Barry Jones. And now 40 years later, it continues to amaze and engage students across the nation.
For the past fortnight, the travelling program has delivered free STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) experiences across south west Victoria visiting Warrnambool, Hamilton, Portland and Colac with the tour culminating in a free Pop-up Science Centre event at Ballarat High School this Saturday and Sunday 8 & 9 March.
In their primary school shows, the Questacon Science Circus presenters use familiar, everyday materials to demonstrate a variety of scientific principles like flight, sound, and forces. These interactive performances are designed to inspire students and demonstrate the science all around us.
At the free Pop-up Science Centre event at Ballarat High School, visitors will experience spectacular science shows and get hands on with over 30 fun and interactive science exhibits.
Many of today’s STEM professionals had their first encounter with science at Questacon. This program extends that opportunity to young Australians in regional and remote communities to inspire them to pursue study and careers in STEM.
Questacon’s outreach program was supported by the Albanese Government with $10 million committed in 2022 to engage young Australians and science teachers in science education.
The Pop-up Science Centre at Ballarat High School this weekend is completely free, however pre-booking via Ticketek is essential.
