HER MAJESTY’S IGNORED BY MORRISON GOVERNMENT
Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King has today hit out at the Morrison Government for forgetting about the people of Ballarat.
Her Majesty’s Theatre recently missed out on $5 million of much needed funding through the Building Better Regions grants program.
“Everyone in Ballarat knows that we need to invest in preserving and upgrading Her Majesty’s Theatre”, Ms King said.
“Her Majesty’s Theatre is mainland Australia’s best preserved and longest running theatre.”
“It is the cultural heart of Ballarat, and it still needs more funding.”
“Each year 75,000 patrons attend the theatre to watch the more than 15,000 performers who take to its stage annually in roughly 300 performances.”
“The recent Building Better Regions grants announcement was a perfect opportunity to fund this project, but disappointingly the Morrison Government looked elsewhere”.
“The Liberals aren’t interested in giving our community the infrastructure that we need, and they aren’t interested in maintaining what we have”.
