CREATING NEW CONNECTIONS IN BALLARAT
A new shared path will create a safer link to some of Ballarat’s fastest-growing suburbs for pedestrians and cyclists, thanks to investment by the Victorian and Australian governments.
A new safe, fully-separated path will run along the Glenelg Highway, connecting the Yarrowee River in Sebastopol to Wiltshire Lane in Delacombe.
Funded under the Road Safety Program, the new 2.4-kilometre path will be delivered by the City of Ballarat and will build on a one-kilometre shared path which is currently under construction from the Midland Highway to Phoenix College.
Construction on the new path is expected to begin in April 2025 and will take approximately 12 months to complete, weather permitting.
The Australian and Victorian Governments are jointly funding this project, each contributing $4.86 million.
The Road Safety Program is one of many initiatives that support both Governments’ commitment to reducing the risk of serious injury and fatal road crashes.
The Australian and Victorian governments are working together to improve safety on targeted, urban and regional roads, footpaths and cycleways across the state, and have made a joint commitment of $120 million under the 2023-2026 Road Safety Program.
This tranche of funding will improve road safety across 24 locations in Victoria.
