$1.5M FOR AN EVENT AND EXHIBITION CENTRE AT THE NEW SHOWGROUNDS
Labor Member for Ballarat Catherine King MP today announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will invest $1.5 million towards establishing a new Event and Exhibition Centre at the Ballarat Showgrounds.
This election commitment will help fund the planning, design and construction of the centre to be built near the Indoor Equestrian Centre on the new 16.2-hectare showgrounds site at Mount Rowan.
The state-of-the-art Event and Exhibition Centre will be a versatile, modern venue, hosting everything from agricultural shows to community gatherings, educational workshops and private events with seating capacity for up to 300 people.
As part of this project, the Indoor Equestrian Centre will undergo an upgrade to enhance its accessibility and functionality, including:
· New tiered seating to improve spectator viewing
· A redesigned viewing area for a more engaging experience
· A meeting room to support both community and educational activities
· Increased arena access to facilitate smoother operations for instructors, volunteers and support teams.
These upgrades will make the Indoor Equestrian Centre a more inclusive and accessible facility, greatly benefiting organisations like Riding for the Disabled Association of Victoria, which relies on the centre for its weekly therapeutic programs.
Consistent with past practice, election commitments including this project will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
