$500,000 TO REVITALISE BALLARAT WELCOME CENTRE
The Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King MP today announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will invest $500,000 to revitalise the Ballarat Welcome Centre.
The Ballarat Welcome Centre is a hub for multicultural community activities in the region and this election commitment will create a vibrant, welcoming and inclusive community space for people regardless of their backgrounds or abilities.
The lead tenant at the centre is the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council (BRMC), which is the peak multicultural agency in the Central Highlands Grampians Region, representing 29 cultural and faith associations. The centre also hosts the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY).
The renovation of the site will improve accessibility and provide increased capacity for BRMC and CMY to host a wider range of multicultural programs and events. It will include making the front foyer a more welcoming entryway, new accessible lift access, installation of public toilets, improvements to walkways, painting, plastering and upgrades to furnishings.
Consistent with past practice, election commitments including this project will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
