SYNTHETIC SURFACE FOR BALLAN BOWLS
Ballan Bowling Club will soon have a synthetic green, thanks in part to a $20,000 Stronger Communities Grant.
The Ballan Bowling Club is a key part of the Ballan community, but without a synthetic green it can only operate for half the year.
As things stand the green is closed in its entirety for six months each year to allow reconditioning of the surface.
This is on top of the 150,000 litres of water annually and 65 volunteer hours per week which are required to keep the greens in top condition.
The club has existing plans to provide more opportunities to residents of all demographics, age groups and physical capacities.
“Ballan Bowling Club is a focal point for so many in the Ballan community, and this investment will help make sure it can operate all year round and without undue burden on hard-working volunteers”, Ms King said.
“This funding means that Ballan Bowling Club expand their activities, take on new projects and invite in more of the Ballan community to enjoy the wonderful sport of bowls.”
“Sports like bowls keep people connected to their communities, and this investment will help deliver to the Ballan community a year round facility that the whole community can enjoy.”
