Catherine King, Federal Member for Ballarat, has today announced that students at Damascus College will soon be able to undertake strength training at school thanks to a $20,000 grant through the Local School Community Fund.
The funding will be used to for the purchase and installation of outdoor fitness and gym equipment, with multiple stations designed for students of all ages and abilities.
“We know that it is important to build good exercise habits early in life, and this project will help Damascus College students to do just that”, Ms King said.
“This funding will enable the 1150 students at Damascus to undertake a greater range of physical activity in class and after school, creating healthier lifestyles and reducing stress, anxiety and the risk of obesity.”
“The new outdoor fitness gym will ensure that students can undertake a fuller range of physical activity while at school, helping to make them fitter and helping to develop healthy habits for the rest of their lives.”
