$5 MILLION FOR DAYLESFORD TO HANGING ROCK RAIL TRAIL FROM LABOR’S NEW NATIONAL BIKE FUND
 

A Shorten Labor Government would invest $5 million in a new tourist bike trail through the heart of the central highlands region .
 

The Daylesford to Hanging Rock Rail Trail will pass through a range of beautiful landscapes and become a major tourism draw for the region.

Building on the region’s well-established health and wellness reputation, the trail will provide another opportunity for tourists and locals to get outdoors and enjoy our region’s unique beauty.

Passing through Hepburn and Macedon Shires, this trail will provide an enticing tourism opportunity accessible by public transport and only an hour from Melbourne Airport.

Projected to attract 62,500 visitors per year, this project will deliver an economic benefit of $4.1 million annually to towns across the region.

Passing through Daylesford, Musk, Bullarto, Lyonville, Trentham, Carlsruhe and Woodend – this trail will bring benefits and support businesses across Hepburn and Macedon shire areas.

This election will be a choice between a Shorten Labor Government with a plan for the local infrastructure communities need, or more of the Liberals’ cuts and chaos.
 
Investing in this rail trail will make it easier for locals and tourists to enjoy the natural beauty of our region, improving public amenities and tourism offerings at the same time.
 
The $5 million in funding would be sourced from Labor’s $260 million National Bike Paths Strategy, the largest ever investment in shared pathways from the Federal Government.
 
This project has already been identified by the Hepburn and Macedon Shire Councils as priorities and a Shorten Labor Government will ensure they are delivered.
