ROAD UPGRADES TO BRING SAFETY AND JOBS
Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King has welcomed work beginning today on road upgrades at four locations across Ballarat.
These four projects are:
· Pedestrian upgrades on Wiltshire Lane,
· Safety upgrades on the Midland Highway in Buninyong,
· Improving the Albert Street crossing in Sebastopol, and,
· Traffic calming measures at Wendouree Station.
Jointly funded by the state and federal governments, these projects will together deliver $940,000 in investments to Ballarat.
"These upgrades mean that our community can get around in greater security and confidence.
"Whether it be kids heading to school in Delacombe, the shops in Sebastopol or the station in Wendouree, these upgrades will not only make getting around easier but will, over the long term, save lives.
"Importantly, these projects are getting underway quickly and providing the economic relief that our community needs.
"When you see people in hi-viz working on these projects you will know that this means more jobs in our community and more money circulating through local businesses.
"Federal Labor has repeatedly called on the Federal Government to roll out infrastructure programs to drive the economic recovery in communities across Australia. It's great to see today that the Victorian Government is getting on with the job and delivering these projects quickly.
