THE GRASS IS GREEENER AT LINTON REC RESERVE
A freshly laid surface and modern facilities greeted representatives from all levels of government today, as the Linton Recreation Reserve was officially opened following an 18-month refurbishment and upgrade.
Home to the Linton Cricket Club and the Carngham Linton Saints, Linton Recreation Reserve is vital to the local sporting community, with both clubs using the ground year-round for fixtures of all ages.
It also serves as a vital green-space option for community events and sports carnivals for the Linton Primary School.
Increasingly burdened by ageing facilities and poor drainage in recent years, the Linton Recreation Reserve was in dire need of upgrades and a joint commitment of $1.4 million through all three levels of government has made this a reality.
The reserve now boasts a new lighting system, two coach boxes, new goalposts, modern subsurface draining, an automated irrigation system, new fencing and a completely resurfaced pitch.
The upgraded pitch and facilities will ensure the local sporting clubs and wider community can enjoy the use of the reserve day and night, and in all weather conditions for years to come
The wide-ranging upgrades were delivered thanks to $780,000 in funding from the Australian Government’s Investing in Our Communities Program.
