SUPPORT FOR SPILT MILK 2023
The Albanese Government is helping Australian music festivals recover from the pandemic with a $2.5 million investment as part of the $20 million Live Music Australia program.
Member for Ballarat Catherine King today announced that Kicks Entertainment were successful recipients under the program and will receive $100,000.
Kicks Entertainment run the hugely successful Spilt Milk event and this grant will support the 2023 traveling festival which operates in Canberra and Main Beach, Qld as well as Ballarat.
The sold-out Spilt Milk Ballarat 2022 was not only a great day out for the 30,000 festival goers, but made a significant economic contribution to the city. City of Ballarat has estimated the 2019 festival’s economic impact was $3.7million.
Other recipients of this year’s fund include the Castlemaine Folk Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival and the Queenscliff Music Festival.
From folk music to country, pop and rock, these 36 grants will support festivals across the country.

“We saw Ballarat come alive for Spilt Milk in 2019 and 2022. The support from the Albanese Government for this year’s festival will be welcomed by festival goers and local businesses alike.”
“The cancellation of festivals throughout the pandemic was a huge loss for both audiences and local businesses. This round of funding will provide a much-needed boost to the Australian music industry.”
